You've found your way through the internet and stumbled across my little corner of it. Who am I, and what am I doing here? Well, I can answer some of those questions for you.

...Me

My name is Patrick R. Connor. I do prefer Patrick as opposed to any shortened nicknames. I live in a small-ish town in eastern Pennsylvania, about halfway between Harrisburg and Scranton. I have a lovely partner who I have been married to since 2018. We're constantly challenging each other and helping each other grow. We have a number of pets that we love dearly, with dogs, cats, and guinea pigs all in the mix.

Professionally, I'm an IT professional who is hoping to inch my way towards cybersecurity, one step at a time. The financial segment in particular interests me, so being able to combine my love of technology and my interest in the mathematics of business and protecting those kinds of assets seems like peanut butter and jelly for me. If you're interested in where I've been with my career and professional development, I've got just the page you're looking for.

In my own time, I like to play around with various technology projects that tend to stir my fancy at the moment. I'm always on the hunt for bargains and ways to make the most out of some things that others might feel is junk.

I wanted to have my own little place to put some of my thoughts together and share the "portfolio" that I have. Throughout the navigation bar above, you'll find a small collection of things that I wanted to share with the world.

This site itself has also become one of my projects, helping me play around with PHP, HTML, and CSS in a useful way. The site itself likely seems simplistic, which is mostly by design. I've coded the site entirely by hand, meaning that I know every bit of what's going in and out of the code. I've coded in a couple nice tricks as well, such as the site switching to a light/dark mode depending on your browser settings and my professional history page printing itself off as a fully formatted résumé. The site is designed to also appear nicely on mobile browsers and should be responsive for most screens. Also, with its simplistic design, it should be pretty straight-forward to read and not be hampered much by slow connection speeds.

...What I Share on This Site

As this is a personal site, you'll obviously be seeing a lot of things that I've personally been going through. My mantra with the amount and type of content that I share is this: If you'd be able to find the information on a background check or through other public means, I'm fine with sharing it. While this means you'll see things that normally might be kept "secret", I'm not going to be fake about what I've gone through and where I've gotten to today. If future employers see this, it's going to be information that they would have been able to find out one way or another.
